- PRICING & ACCOMMODATION
-
All prices are per person and based on single occupancy. There is no dreaded 'single supplement'. We look for unique hotels which offer sustainable, cultural, and historic features. We typically stay in upscale, boutique hotels in the 4 star or 5 star category that offer many amenities. In some countries or in remote locations, options may be limited to lodges or large chain hotels. Not included in your rate are alcoholic beverages, meals not listed in the itinerary, travel to and from our destinations, airport transfers, travel insurance, gratuities for local guides, and any optional excursions you may choose to book on your own or as a group.
- MEALS
-
All meals included in the workshop will be listed in the itinerary. Our workshops usually start with an orientation followed by a group dinner and they end with a 'Best of the Week' slideshow and final group celebratory dinner. Daily breakfast is often included.
- TRAVEL INSURANCE
-
We strongly suggest you purchase travel insurance for your trip.Aside from medical care, travel insurance can protect you in the case of lost or stolen luggage, equipment, and personal effects, trip cancellation, personal liability, funeral expenses (we don't mean to sound morbid, but dying overseas can be very, very expensive), emergency dental treatment and evacuation back to your country of residence. All that being said, please read the policy carefully (especially the exclusions and cancellation requirements) to make sure that it covers what you will need. We often use World Nomads and can recommend Tin Leg and MedJets. Please look into Faye if you have pre-existing conditions and Insure My Trip if you are over 70.
- ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES
-
Some adventures start and end in the same city/location while others start and end in different places. We will list airport information in our itineraries. Depending on where our workshop is taking place, we may suggest you arrive one day before we start so you (and your luggage!) can settle in and adjust to any time zone difference. We are happy to help book a room for early arrival.
- GETTING AROUND
-
Please note that many of our workshops are quite active (especially city-based) and may require extensive walking around. Participants should be able to be out photographing for approximately 2-3 hours at a time. That said, if you do have mobility issues and would like to join a workshop, please contact us. We mostly travel by private car or mini bus, sometimes by taxi, train, off-road or ferry, depending on the locations and size of our group. In large cities we may travel on foot or use public transportation. In other workshops, we may also travel by boat, plane, 4x4, camel, private bus, and car. Detailed arrangements will be included in your itinerary package.
- WHAT TO EXPECT
-
Many of our workshops are moderate to active and suit a wide range of interests and abilities. Travelers should be physically fit and comfortable walking or standing for extended periods, navigating uneven or slippery terrain, and climbing stairs without handrails.
- QUESTIONS
-
Once you book a photo workshop with us, we will be sending detailed information about your destination, daily itineraries, weather forecasts, sunrise/sunset times, welcome letters from our lead photographers, equipment checklists, packing suggestions, vaccine requirements, and answers to most of your questions. Every photo workshop is different so please know we always just a phone call or email away to answer any other questions you may have.

Cancellations more than 120 days ahead of the start date will receive a 100% refund unless otherwise specified when you signed up. Cancellations made 91-120 days prior to departure: 60% refund; 45-90 days prior to departure: 50% of the workshop cost; 44 or fewer days prior to departure: 100% of the workshop cost. Rescheduling to a different photo adventure may be an option. Leaving a workshop in progress, for any reason whatsoever, will not result in a refund, and no refunds will be made for any unused portions of a workshop. Private photo workshops excursions an are due in full 150 days ahead of the trip start date and are non-refundable.
- RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT LIST
-
Bring the photographic equipment you usually shoot with: a camera, lenses, tripods, and a flash if you have and use one. If specific equipment will be helpful or necessary for a workshop, we will let you know.
Please make sure your photography equipment is in good working order before leaving home, and be sure to bring extra batteries and cards. There is nothing more frustrating than having your equipment break when you are on the road and part of a workshop. It can be particularly challenging in a foreign country where repairs or replacement may be difficult to find. Check with your insurance company or home owners policy and make sure your equipment is covered.
All participants must bring a digital SLR or mirrorless camera, a laptop computer, and software for organizing and presenting images. iPads will make editing your images very tedious.
We also recommend:
- Laptop computer
- Digital memory cards with reader
- Power adapters and cables for laptop and digital camera
- Camera manual
- Batteries and charger for rechargeable batteries
- External hard drive
- Rain gear
Please wear comfortable shoes, bring layers, rain gear, and remember you will need to carry your equipment while we are out. Bring an appropriate camera bag or backpack.
